Why GrabVid exists
Video is where most of the internet lives now, and almost none of it is yours to keep. You find a recipe on Instagram, a clear explanation of a bug on X, a workout on TikTok, and the only thing you can do is tap a bookmark icon and hope the post survives. Posts get deleted. Accounts go private. Audio gets pulled for licensing reasons. The bookmark stays, the video does not.
GrabVid is a straightforward answer to that. Paste a link, we read what the platform is actually serving, and you pick the version you want. The file downloads directly to your device in MP4, which plays on essentially anything you own. That is the entire product. There is no account, no premium tier gating the good qualities, and no installer.
What you get, and what you do not
We show you every rendition the source stores, from a small 480p file for messaging to 1080p for proper viewing, and up to 2160p on YouTube where a channel uploaded at that size. Nothing is upscaled. If a clip was posted at 720p then 720p is the ceiling, and any tool promising to turn it into 4K is inventing pixels that were never recorded. We would rather tell you the truth about what exists than sell you a bigger file containing the same detail.
The same honesty applies to watermarks. TikTok composites its logo into the video during processing, so removing it after the fact means cropping your frame or smearing a blur over the corner. Where TikTok happens to keep a version without the overlay, we offer it and say so. Where it does not, you get the watermarked file and a clear label rather than a damaged one.
Formats, devices and the practical details
Almost everything downloads as MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. That combination has hardware decoding on every phone, laptop, tablet and television made in roughly the last fifteen years, and every video editor imports it without complaint. YouTube is the exception worth knowing about: its higher resolutions often arrive as VP9 or AV1 inside a WebM container, which is more efficient but less universally supported. On a phone, the saved file lands in Files on iPhone and in Downloads on Android, and both are a tap away from your gallery. On desktop it goes wherever your browser normally puts things. There is no companion app holding your library hostage, because the file is just a file and it is yours once it has downloaded.
Privacy, by doing less
We never ask you to log in to any platform, which means there are no credentials here to leak and nothing that can get your account flagged for suspicious third party access. Links you paste are used to fetch the video information and are not tied to a profile of you. We do not store the videos themselves. The transfer happens between the source platform and your device. Our privacy policy spells out exactly what is logged, including the advertising cookies used by Google AdSense to keep the site free.
Using this responsibly
Saving a public video to watch offline, keep a reference, or archive something you posted yourself is ordinary personal use, and that is what this tool is for. Taking someone else's work and re-uploading it as your own is a different activity with real consequences, from copyright strikes to losing monetisation on your own account. Credit the creator, link back, and ask before anything commercial. It costs nothing and it is how most people would want to be treated.
